Report from The Sled Den
Saturday, March 7, 2015

.....Jack......

We still need new snow at The Sled Den!

Going to run out of places soon to cut tracks …...

There has been an increase in the amount of people that now ride the backcountry of Gaspésie…..I am glad to see this ‘cause the economy sure could use it……....happy to see sleds at the hotels and gas stations!!

Today the temps got a little warmer but the sun never came out. It was blocked by the snowsqualls we were getting.....it's been 10 days or so since we got some good snow.

Sure, we got close to a foot in snowsqualls but we need a storm to spread the riding out again…..the riders are all riding one area mostly.

This is due to the snowsqualls producing more snow in this area……also the wind has been blowing pretty good and turned lots of pow into wind-blown snow.

We have been finding areas with good snow but they are smaller than most areas we ride. The trees are even a little harder than usual!......this is from the warm to cold temps at night…...it’s helped set the snow up.

The year has been slow but it’s still better here than most other areas…… like the west!! Looks like we might be the ones to ride late again!

Not much to report on ‘cause the snow has not changed in more than a week.

The trails are hard and fast…..well, they look like that when we ride over them to get into the back!

Weather prediction is calling for 40 cms....lol.....we will see.....

They have not been right for some time now……they say ‘lots’ and we get almost none…….then they say '10-15 cms' and we get close to 2 feet!!!! Not too accurate this year, these guys!

...where's the sled?...

I think New Brunswick took all our snow this year!...... They have almost 500 cms so far this season!!

Guess we will know by Tuesday if we got a good storm………….
